Victim Support ACT Massage Therapy Presentation

On the 11th of February 2009 I gave a presentation to Victim Support ACT (VSACT), along with two other colleges. The presentation highlighted the importance of massage therapy in the decreasing of stress and anxiety of those who are a victim of crime. I presented a scientific approach to manual therapy when dealing with emotional disorders.

One of the key aspects of treating the body under such stress is focusing on how the fascial system has responded to both internal and external stressors. I also talked about the influence muscle knots or myofascial trigger points can restrict your ability to stretch, and restriction in the thoracic outlet is one of the more physical signs of stress and anxiety.
